Affordable web design and budgets
When budgets are tight, it is important to get as much “bang for your buck” as possible. I aim to give great value for money and, even on small website design projects, to pay attention to search engine optimisation and effectiveness.
What is a reasonable budget for a web design project?
Clients are always looking for a good deal, especially in tough times. But when business is tough, and your market is more competitive, it is even more important for you to be professional and effective in your marketing activities – including your website.
A site has to be big enough to present enough relevant content to your users. And big enough to target a range of your key search phrases in Google and other search engines. That's why I usually consider a 10-page site as a starting point. But if you feel you need a smaller site, don't hesitate to get in touch and we can discuss your requirements in more detail.
Every site is unique. It is designed to your requirements and each site will involve different amounts of time and effort. I quote prices individually for each project, when I have discussed your requirements and suggested a structure for the site – with an indication of number of pages, number of photographs and how the site will be built.
As a rough guideline:
- a simple brochure site with up to 10 pages will typically cost from £1,000*
- a more sophisticated brochure site, with an unlimited number pages built using a content management system (CMS), will usually cost from £2,000*
- an e-commerce site will typically cost £2,000* upwards, depending on the number of products and the complexity (e.g. payment methods, delivery methods)
* Prices quoted exclude web hosting. All price guidelines above are indicative only. A written proposal will be given individually for each project depending on the amount of work involved.
Basic web hosting accounts suitable for most clients' sites cost £99.00 p.a. - see the web hosting page for more information.
Looking for a budget website?
Check out my other site, Singlepage, which offers budget sites for small businesses. These are still built by me, they're mobile-friendly and you'll get SEO help. It can be a very cost-effective solution for a small business website. And don't be fooled by the name - you won't be limited to just a single page. Singlepage sites cover anything from one page up to about 10 pages.
